I design my own decals or vinyl lettering using my computer and Benn Coifman's fonts (www.railfonts.com) .I do make waterslide decals in all scales from " N " to " G " and vinyl lettering as small as 1/4" high, but as large as 6 inches high. Decals and vinyl are available in all colors. All pieces in the catalog show our lettering that we have custom designed for the pieces SHAWMUT creates.. Vinyl lettering would work great on live steam..

Shawmut has custom painted / decaled OVER 1900 cars & locomotives since 1996. We specialize in custom built pieces that are not available commercially such as pickle cars, butterdish milk cars, camelback steam locomotives, chop nosed diesels such as GP7/9 to GP16’s, CF7, gas electric motor cars, coil cars, custom built tank cars and modern auto carriers, express reefers, Russell snow plows, milk cars, and other neat cars for modelers, industry, and museums.

NOTE : SPECIAL CUSTOM BUILT / REBUILT ITEMS MAY RESULT IN A SLIGHTLY HIGHER PRICE THEN QUOTED, IF THE TIME / MATERIALS TO BUILD THE ITEM COST MORE THEN THE ORIGINAL QUOTE, AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE MAY BE REQUESTED.WHEN THE PIECE IS FINISHED.

I try to give an accurate quote, but sometimes it takes longer than anticipated to achieve the product the customer desires as the piece is a one of kind.

Camelback steam locomotives are made in 0-4-0, 2-8-0, and 4-8-0 configurations. Other items built include canteen tenders for the mallet, gas electric motorcars, Harriman style round passenger roof applied to the original roof.
